On receipt of her degree Christine returned to Hong Kong to live on the outer islands in traditional villages. She became involved in a rural organic farming project as a photographer, photo journalist, artist and researcher. Whilst there she exhibited mainly drawings in pencil, charcoal and Chinese ink. She moved to England and began working as a printmaker, specializing in etching. Subsequently Christine and her boatbuilder husband moved aboard a yacht complete with etching press and sailed to Ireland, and then the Caribbean and the U.S.A.

Their first anchorage was off Heir Island and five years later they returned to set up home there.
